An official claimed on Tuesday that Mumbai Police has arrested YouTuber ‘Hindustani Bhau’ alias Vikas Fhatak and another person in connection with a student demonstration near the residence of Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad in Mumbai. The police started action against the 41-year-old YouTuber after it was revealed that he had invited pupils to gather in Dharavi, Mumbai, near Gaikwad’s residence, on Monday to seek the cancellation of offline exams for classes 10 and 12 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, he claimed.

According to the official, Ikrar Khan Wakhar Khan (25) was also arrested for his apparent role in the students’ protest.

A case was filed against the two accused at the Dharavi police station under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, including unlawful assembly, rioting, abetting an offense, and negligent/malignant act likely to spread infection of a disease harmful to life (in view of the COVID-19 pandemic).
According to the official, they have also been charged under the Maharashtra Police Act, the Disaster Management Act, and the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act.
According to the official, the YouTuber posted a video on a social media platform in which he encouraged students to participate in a protest outside Gaikwad’s apartment.
On Monday, a huge number of students gathered outside the minister’s residence, prompting police to use a light baton charge to disperse them.

Pranay Ashok, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone V, stated on Monday that anyone involved in inciting students will face legal punishment.

Hindustani Bhau, who appeared on the reality TV show “Bigg Boss 13,” is well-known for his videos, which are distinguished by the distinctive delivery of slang terms, and through which he mostly targets Pakistan and other YouTubers from the neighboring nation.
